Richard Uridge explores the shores of the Isle of Wight. He searches for dinosaurs, fishes for lobsters, talks to the man who rigged The Bounty and looks at one of the best nautical photographic archives in the world. Isle of Wight info Richard starts his journey combing the beach for dinosaurs at Compton Bay near Freshwater. The Isle of Wight is the best place in Europe for discovering dinosaur remains. Here, he meets fossil hunter, Martin Simpson. Martin shows Richard a number of world famous sites - giant casts of dinosaur footprints and the fossil forest. Dinosaur info The Isle of Wight is also famous for its yachting industry. While sailing down the River Medina, Richard talks to Harry Spencer about how the area has changed since its days as a busy industrial shipping centre during World War II. Harry talks about his life rigging old fashion boats such as The Bounty and he recounts how he survived being bombed in the bath! From the River Medina, Richard moves to East Cowes and to the house of nautical photographer, Keith Beken. They sit in the bay of his first floor window that spans the busy shipping lane of the Solent. Keith Beken's photographs are world famous. It all began when his father set up his chemist business on the island and started taking pictures of historic ships such as The Britannia. Keith claims his father took the last ever photograph of The Titanic. Keith Beken Richard's journey then moves to Bembridge harbour, where he goes lobster fishing with local fisherman Denny Seymore. They return without their fish supper, but we learn about the dangers of pulling the pots and how Denny nearly lost his crew in an accident last December.
