A 28-year-old man has admitted causing the death of a dog walker after hitting him with his car, and driving off.

The body of dad-of-two Aaron Jones, from Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire, was found in a churchyard on 23 December 2024.

Daniel Wyke, from Carmarthen, was arrested the following day and was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and a separate count of dangerous driving, a year later.

He appeared in Swansea Crown Court on Monday to enter a guilty plea for the first charge.

Wyke denied the count of dangerous driving on Water Street, in Carmarthen, after the crash in Llanpumsaint.

Ian Wright, prosecuting, told the court there was "extensive damage to the windscreen of the vehicle".

Jones's body was found in the local church grounds near Caer Salem baptist chapel and the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest opening in January was told his dog was found by a passer-by who contacted his wife, which led to a search.

Coroner's officer Malcolm Thompson said Jones was hit by the car at about 19:20 GMT.

Judge Paul Thomas KC granted bail but told Wyke he is disqualified from driving.

A provisional date for sentencing has been set for 30 March.
