A 57-year-old man has been charged following an attempted murder in south-west Wales.

A woman is in a stable condition in hospital following an incident in Carmarthen Park, Carmarthenshire, on 29 January.

James McKenna was arrested on Monday, following a public appeal to locate him.

He has now been charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article in a public place and stalking.

He is due to appear at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers attended the scene just after 16:00 GMT, when it was reported that a woman had suffered stab wounds while in the park.

The scene inside the park was cordoned off, and Picton Terrace was also shut while officers examined the area.
