A 57-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a woman.

James McKenna, from Carmarthen, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article in a public place and stalking.

Dyfed-Powys Police were called to Carmarthen Park, Carmarthenshire, on 29 January at about 16:00 GMT, after it was reported that a woman had suffered stab wounds. She was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

McKenna spoke only to confirm is name, date of birth and address. He was remanded in custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on 9 March.
