Beach huts worth £250k get buried in sand

Abersoch.comSome of Wales' most expensive beach huts have been submerged in sand after the coastline was battered by storms.
Huts across Abersoch beach in Gwynedd, which can cost up to £250,000, need to be dug out every spring, but some locals have said "this year is worse than usual".
A video of the sand covered huts was shared on social media by Abersoch.com with one commenter saying nature had given "extra security for the over priced sheds".
Other comments said it was the "worst I've seen in a long while" and "it does look bad this year".
This is not the first time the beach huts have been damaged by nature's elements.
In 2014 Gwynedd was hit by high winds and tides, damaging 15 huts.
In November 2025, the seafront was also hit by Storm Claudia.
The Abersoch beach huts, along with a section of land directly in front of them, are under private ownership, and Cyngor Gwynedd is not involved or responsible for digging the huts out of the sand.
The huts are an 8m by 3m (26ft by 10ft) building, with very few frills.
They are not connected to the mains water and staying overnight is strictly forbidden.
You still have to pay council tax on the property - estimated to be nearly £800 this year.
