A motorcyclist who was carrying blood supplies for the NHS has sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital after being involved in a crash.

Dyfed-Powys Police was called to the A48 westbound, between the Botanical Gardens turning and Llanddarog junction, in Carmarthenshire, just before 18:00 GMT on Monday, where a black Audi A3 and a Honda 750 Liveried Blood Bike were involved in a collision.

Blood Bikes Wales volunteers help the NHS by delivering emergency blood, donor milk and medical equipment between hospitals.

The force said the driver of the Audi - a 26-year-old man - was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, and remains in police custody.
