Man charged with dangerous driving after dog walker killed
Family photoA 28-year-old man has been charged after a dog walker was hit by a car and later found in a churchyard.
Father-of-two Aaron Jones, from Llanpumsaint, Carmarthenshire, died on 23 December 2024 while he was walking his dog in the small village.
Daniel Wyke, from Carmarthen, was arrested the following day and has now been charged with dangerous driving, and causing death by dangerous driving.
He is scheduled to appear at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on 15 January.
Mr Jones's body was found in the local church grounds near Caer Salem Baptist Chapel and the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sgt Sara John, from Dyfed-Powys Police, said the force continued "to be at the heart of this investigation".
"We recognise that this has been a lengthy investigation, and I am grateful to Aaron's family, and the wider community, for their patience and support while our enquiries have been carried out," she said.
"We will continue to support Aaron's family as the case progresses, and we seek to provide justice for Aaron and his loved ones."
An inquest opening in January heard Mr Jones's dog was found by a passer-by who contacted his wife, which led to a missing persons search.
Coroner's officer Malcolm Thompson said Mr Jones was hit by the car at about 19:20 GMT.
