Video captures driver using phone on lap on M25
A man who denied using his phone while driving on a motorway changed his plea after video of him caught in the act was shown in court.
The 48-year-old was filmed with the device on his lap using a mapping app while on the M25 at Thurrock on 17 April last year, Essex Police said.
The footage was shown at Colchester Magistrates' Court. Officers noted the driver was using the app even though the car already had a navigation system fitted.
The man, from Birmingham, was issued six penalty points, a £597 fine and ordered to pay costs in excess of £300.
