A1(M) closed in County Durham after power cables fall

A stretch of the A1(M) motorway in County Durham has been closed after powerlines fell on to the road.

It is closed in both directions between junction 59 at Coatham Mundeville and junction 60 for Bradbury, National Highways said, with engineers at the scene.

The lines came down at about 16:45 GMT and diversions are in place.

Anyone planning to make a journey is being advised to check the latest updates from National Highways.
