Man hit by lorry on A1(M) after fleeing car crash
GoogleA man has been seriously injured after he was struck by a lorry after he fled a car crash.
North Yorkshire Police said a black Skoda Octavia hit the central reservation on the A1(M) near Dishforth after joining the southbound carriageway on Saturday.
The two occupants of the car then ran away, before one was hit by a HGV on the northbound carriageway. He was taken to hospital with leg injuries.
The other man was found near the scene and later arrested.
The road was closed near junction 49 for five hours following the incident at 10:45 GMT.
Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the crash or the suspects fleeing the scene.
