A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was found in the road

A man has been found in a road with serious injuries, which police believe could have been caused by a vehicle.

Emergency services were alerted at about 02:00 GMT on Saturday after the man, in his 40s, was found in the middle of Elson Road in Ellesmere, Shropshire.

He has since been taken to hospital for treatment with an investigation launched by police.

PC Jack Gough, of West Mercia Police, said: "Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area as officers carry out house-to-house inquiries, and review any available CCTV to identify any vehicles that may have been involved."

He added that investigators were urging anyone with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.
