The Met Office has issued a 17-hour ice warning for the area

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice across the East of England.

The alert covers the whole region - from the Norfolk coast to west Northamptonshire - between 17:00 GMT until 10:00 on Saturday.

Forecasters said it could lead to "difficult travel conditions" and advised anyone heading out to check road conditions first before setting off.

The weather service also highlighted the risk of injuries from slips and falls, warning that icy patches were likely on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The Met Office said a band of rain and sleet would clear southwards across the country on Friday evening and overnight.

The forecaster said: "As skies clear, temperatures will fall below freezing, leading to a risk of ice forming on untreated surfaces."
