Fifth man charged with murder after fatal stabbing
BBCA fifth person has been charged with murder after a man was fatally stabbed in the street.
Leon Phillips, 47, of St Philips in Bristol, was found seriously injured in Stapleton Road at about 22:45 GMT on 2 February. He died in hospital the following morning.
Yahaye Ali, 20, from Fishponds, is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court later on charges of murder and possession of a bladed article.
Four men previously charged with Phillips' murder have appeared in court and remain remanded in custody pending further hearings.
They are: Ayoob Mohamed, 18, from St Pauls; Muner Teclu, 20, from Easton; Fallou Diop, 19, of no fixed address; and Mustafa Ali, 18, from Fishponds.
Det Insp Nadine Partridge, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: "Specialist officers continue to support and update Leon's family, who are devastated by the events of the past week.
"A large number of enquiries have been completed by the investigative team since Leon's death, and have resulted in the Crown Prosecution Service authorising murder charges against five men.
"While there is not considered to be a wider risk to the public, uniformed officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols.
"Plans are also in place for the mobile police station to remain in the area too, so anyone with concerns can speak to us."
