Leon Phillips, 47, was found fatally injured in Stapleton Road on Monday night

Four men have been charged with murder and carrying knives after a man was allegedly stabbed to death.

Leon Phillips, 47, of St Philips in Bristol, was found with serious injuries in Stapleton Road on Monday night and died in hospital the following morning.

A post-mortem examination found Phillips died from multiple knife wounds, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Four men are due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court charged with murder. They are: Ayoob Mohamed, 18, from St Pauls; Muner Teclu, 20, from Easton; Fallou Diop, 19, of no fixed address; Mustafa Ali, 18, from Fishponds.

Three other men were arrested after the alleged attack — two of them have been released on bail while the third will face no further action.

"Our thoughts remain very much with Leon's family, and we are doing everything we can to support them," a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said.

Det Ch Insp Nadine Partridge said the investigation into Leon's death had been moving quickly and the major crime team had been working "incredibly hard to understand exactly what happened on Monday night".

Partridge praised the officers who were first at the scene, and said: "Their actions allowed us to make significant progress in the early stages of our inquiries."
