Leon Phillips, 47, was found fatally injured on Stapleton Road

A ninth person has now been arrested as part of a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing.

Leon Phillips, 47, died from his injuries the day after being attacked on 2 February on Stapleton Road in Bristol.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and remains in custody.

Four of the people who have so far been detained have already been charged with murder and possession of a knife. They appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Monday, where they were remanded in custody and a provisional trial date was set for November.

The four people are next due at Bristol Crown Court for a hearing on 31 April.

Two men arrested on the night, and a third arrested three days later, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

One man arrested immediately after the incident was released without charge last week.
