The Met Office said some patchy accumulations of snow could be possible

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice across the East of England.

The alert covers the whole region - from the Norfolk coast to west Northamptonshire - between 18:00 GMT and 10:00 on Tuesday.

Forecasters warned rain, sleet and some snow could lead to the risk of icy patches.

It said ice could become a hazard as temperatures fell quickly once showers had cleared, and urged caution if travelling.

Rain, sleet and hill snow was forecast to move south-eastwards through Monday evening before clearing to the North Sea.

There was also the chance of strong north-westerly winds along the coast later in the night and into Tuesday morning.

"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary," the Met Office advised.

It warned weather warnings could change and recommended people keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
