Emergency services were called to the A45 in Daventry on Thursday afternoon

A 50-year-old man has been taken to hospital after he was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash.

Northamptonshire Police was called to the A45, Daventry, by the Weedon bypass, at about 17:55 GMT on Thursday, following a collision between a silver Volkswagen Golf and a grey BMW 420D.

It said the BMW driver and a passenger "made off from the scene" in the opposite direction and efforts were being made to trace them.

The Golf driver was taken to University Hospital, Coventry, for treatment.

The force asked for anyone with any information, or dashcam footage, to get in touch.
