Biker had heart 'big enough for everyone to share'

The family of a motorcyclist who was killed on a busy dual carriageway said he had "a heart big enough for everyone to share".

Steven Leadbetter, 65, from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, died on 22 February on the A45 westbound, between Great Doddington and Earls Barton, while he was riding his black Triumph motorcycle.

In a statement released to Northamptonshire Police, his family said: "Steve aka 'Splodge' was a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle to our family."

They said he would be "missed immensely by so many".

"He was larger than life and had a heart big enough for everyone to share," his family added.

"He was a member of the Triumph Owners' Motorcycle Club and was well liked by many.

"Steve is going to be missed immensely by so many, but we know he died doing what he loved the most.

"We would also like to thank all at the scene for their assistance and the emergency services."

The force said it wanted to hear from anyone with information about the incident, which happened at 09:15 GMT.
