A new National Lottery funded youth club at a pavilion and gardens will offer "meaningful opportunities" to young people in the area, a town council has said.

Swanspool Hub, which is based at Swanspool Pavilion in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, will open for 14 to 18-year-olds on Friday.

The project, which is delivered by Wellingborough Town Council in partnership with local mental health charity Service Six, will operate weekly on Fridays from 16:00 to 18:00 BST.

Paul Bell, the leader of the town council, said: "We are delighted to introduce Swanspool Hub and provide a space where young people feel safe, supported, and inspired."

The town council said the youth club would offer a "safe and welcoming space for young people to meet, socialise, and learn new skills including making snacks".

It said the project was a response to a need for accessible youth provision in the area and it would offer a welcoming space for social interaction, personal development and positive activities.

The youth club would be funded by the National Lottery for two years, the authority added.

Last year the future of Swanspool Pavilion was secured after the town council received almost £600,000 from the government's Community Ownership Fund after a previous government grant fell through.

The town council secured ownership of the site, which opened in 1919, from North Northamptonshire Council in May 2025.
