Two-thousand people dressed up as Father Christmas have taken part in a fun run through historic city streets.

The Lincoln Santa Fun Run is in its 20th year and raises money for local charities including Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and Lincolnshire Age UK.

Runners complete one or two laps of a 2km (1.2-mile) course around the city's cultural quarter.

"When we first started, we hoped to get 250 people," said Ray Peters, of organiser the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia. "It's just been a superb situation for us."

Mr Peters said people from as far away as Scotland and Cornwall had signed up to take part.

Participants were asked to bring an item of food to donate to the Lincoln Community Larder food bank.

Runners received a commemorative mug at the finish line.
