Injunction to stop traveller site work extended
GoogleA council fighting an unauthorised traveller development close to a nuclear weapons site has had a High Court injunction extended until the end of the month.
West Berkshire Council was first granted the order that restricts development and more people living on a site south of Reading Road, close to the Atomic Weapons Establishment's (AWE) Aldermaston site, on 19 December.
It had that extended until the end of January at the court by Justice Tim Moloney KC on Monday.
Last month, Heather Codling, the council's deputy leader, said: "We are committed to taking proportionate but firm action where planning control is being breached."
She added: "Securing this injunction ensures that no further unauthorised development can lawfully take place while the matter is before the court."
