A pedestrian has been hospitalised with life-threatening injuries after she was involved in a collision with a car.

Avon and Somerset Police said the incident happened on High Street in Portbury, North Somerset, at about 06:50 GMT.

The road was closed between the A369 and the junction with Mill Lane while emergency services attended.

The woman's next of kin have been informed, and police have asked for any witnesses to come forward.
