Tributes have been paid to a "greatly loved and respected" father who died on a building site on the outskirts of Norwich.

Emergency services called to the Furlong Heath development, off Salhouse Road, in Sprowston, on 17 February, declared 42-year-old Brian Rodgers dead at the scene.

Norfolk Police said the circumstances around his death remained under investigation with officers working alongside colleagues from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

In a tribute to the late construction worker, his family said they were "truly heartbroken" by his death.

"Brian was a wonderful fiancé, father, and brother and our home and lives feel empty without him," his family said.

"It is clear from the overwhelming response we have had from family, friends, work colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances, that he was greatly loved and respected by all of those he came into contact with.

"He brought love, laughter, care, support, comfort and joy to all of us and enriched our lives beyond measure.

"He will be greatly missed and never forgotten."

An inquest into his death is due to open on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the site developer, Tilia Homes, said previously: "The safety and welfare of those who work with us is our highest priority, and we will be providing support to our employees, sub-contractors and partners at the development."
