Passengers have had to change their travel plans due to more trains than usual needing repairs on the Norwich to Cambridge line

Rail passengers have been warned by a train operator that they may not be able to travel as planned due to "more trains than usual needing repairs".

Sunday's services between Norwich and Cambridge via Brandon, Suffolk, have been affected and the disruption, with fewer trains running than expected, was due to continue until the end of the day.

A train was also cancelled between Lowestoft and Ipswich, although operator Greater Anglia has said the service on that line was returning to normal.

The disruption is in addition to planned bus replacements between Diss and Ipswich, as well as between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds on Sunday while signalling work is carried out.

Greater Anglia has said tickets would be accepted by another operator on Sunday

Greater Anglia said East Midlands Railway would accept its tickets between Norwich and Ely during Sunday's train shortage.

Passengers who have bought advance tickets would also be able to use earlier or later trains if the service they were booked on has been cancelled.
