A parkrun event is to be postponed while a bike pump track is created at the venue in Kesgrave, near Ipswich

A Parkrun could be postponed for up to two months while a six-figure cycling pump track is installed.

The event, held every Saturday on Kesgrave's Millennium Sports Ground near Ipswich, will be put on hold from 28 February.

Organisers said the run would be cancelled for about eight weeks, but it would review the decision after four weeks.

Once the undulating pump track, which can be used for stunts with bikes, scooters and skateboards, is complete, the Kesgrave Parkrun 5km (3.1-mile) route may be altered to fit around it.

While the work is carried out in the Longstrops area, runners can keep up their times by visiting other Parkruns in the area, organisers have said.

The Kesgrave pump track had its final revised design approved in December, with work due to start next week on the facility, which has been funded by a local businessman.
