Football fans warned of delays as sewer collapses
PA MediaFootball fans and motorists are being warned of possible delays after a sewer collapsed near a city's stadium.
Norfolk County Council said the Anglian Water sewer collapsed on Carrow Road - the home of Norwich City Football Club's stadium.
The Canaries will face Birmingham City at home at 15:00 GMT.
The council said on Facebook that a section of Carrow Road had been closed to traffic, adding: "This will cause major delays in the area, especially for supporters heading to Saturday's football match."
In its post, the council advised people to allow extra travel time and follow the signed diversion.
It wrote: "People driving into Norwich should avoid going via the A1242 (Yarmouth Road) and follow the signed diversion via the A1042 (Pound Lane Ring Road) - B1140 (Plumstead Road ) - A147 (Riverside road) or via the A47 and into Norwich at Trowse."
It said traffic leaving Norwich was not expected to be affected but the closure could be in place until early in the week.
"Anglian Water are in attendance and will be working to reopen the road as quickly as possible," it added.
