Crew and dogs rescued from boat run aground in fog
Dave RileyThree people and two dogs have been rescued from their boat after it ran aground in thick fog.
A lifeboat crew from Poole found the 6.5m (21ft) motorboat high and dry south of Brownsea Island shortly after 16:15 GMT on Wednesday.
Visibility was about 50m (164ft) when the lifeboat launched before the crew found the boat stranded in mud as the tide continued to drop.
With the tide not due to rise for several hours and visibility still poor, the lifeboat crew anchored the motorboat and took the three people and two dogs to Salterns Marina.
Poole helm, Ed Davies said: "Our crews were certainly tested on this service call but we train for situations like this and really utilised the radar and navigation equipment onboard to keep us safe, but also to help locate the casualty.
"It's unfortunate that the reduced visibility and the very low tide caught these people out but we were glad we were able to assist."
