Emergency services were called to an incident between Shrewsbury and Wellington stations

A railway line blocked between two stations earlier has reopened following an emergency incident.

West Midlands Railway said on Monday morning that services between Shrewsbury and Wellington were facing disruption.

National Rail later confirmed the line had reopened.

"Some services may still be delayed as we get our service back up to speed," West Midlands Railway said.

Affected services included West Midlands Railway and Transport for Wales, which organised buses to run along parts of the route.

Services to Birmingham and Wolverhampton faced disruption.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to Belvidere Road in Shrewsbury and sent two ambulances and two paramedic officers to the scene.

"Upon arrival we found one patient," a service spokesperson said.

"Sadly, it was clear that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased by ambulance staff at the scene."
