The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition will come to Shropshire next month.

It will open at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery on 25 April and run until 20 June, following a competition that receives entries from more than 110 countries and territories around the world.

This year's attracted more than 60,000 entries from photographers of all ages and experience levels, Shropshire Council said.

During the exhibition, which will be on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, the museum and art gallery in the town will host wildlife-themed activities.

A children's trail will encourage them to explore galleries while searching for hidden 'wild animals'.

Meanwhile, young people can take part in the museum's own wildlife photography competition.

The exhibition shines a light on powerful images that capture hidden animal behaviour and "spectacular species", the council said.

The competition was launched in 1965 and this year's photos will feature on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by more than a million people.

During a week at the Natural History Museum, entries were judged anonymously by an international panel of industry experts.
