A snow and ice warning is in place for Norfolk on Saturday

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Norfolk.

The alert is in place from Saturday between 00:00 GMT and 12:00 with frequent heavy snow showers expected across coastal areas in the UK.

About 1-3 cm (0.4-1 inches) of snow was forecast to accumulate; however, showers were expected to become less frequent into the evening, the Met Office said.

A spokesperson added: "Snow showers are expected to spread further inland in the early hours of Saturday, becoming frequent and perhaps heavy at times."

People have been warned to expect some travel disruption due to the snow and ice.

Some roads and railways could be affected, with longer journey times, and there could be icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths.
