Plans have been submitted to replace a Lake District boathouse which was wrecked in a storm.

A boathouse on the northern shore of Windermere, near the Wateredge Inn, Ambleside, was destroyed during Storm Babet in 2023, proposals to the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) said.

Applicant The Inn Collection Group said the remains of the boathouse were an "eyesore" to its customers and lake users.

The plans involve creating a site resembling the former building with guesthouse accommodation which will be split into three sections.

The application said that the boathouse would be "simple in form with a pitched roof", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The plans involve splitting the boathouse accommodation into three buildings, with the boathouse itself being a building on Windermere's shore, accommodation with living/kitchen area and two bedrooms and a bathroom.

In September another proposal was lodged for a two-storey boathouse and jetty at on the eastern shore of the lake to replaced those destroyed in Storm Desmond in 2015.
