'Lovable giant' Brody finds 'forever home'
BBC/Mark McAlindonA "loveable giant" dog weighing about 10st (66kg) has found his "forever home".
Brody, a Pyrenean mountain dog, attracted attention after he was put up for adoption by Animal Concern Cumbria in December.
The Egremont-based charity said it received "hundreds" of inquiries as well as offers to take in the six-year-old from across Europe and even the US.
Lauren Pickthall, animal rehoming manager, said Brody's fame had meant the charity did not need to advertise him and he had settled in with his new family in the south of England.
"It made life easy but also difficult because we had a lot of really solid matches," she explained.
"We had people from all over Europe and even America offering him a home.
"His adopters came up to meet him, took him out for a walk and a pub lunch and got to know him."
SuppliedBrody stands at about 6ft (1.82m) on his hind legs and can eat more than 2.2lb (1kg) of food per day.
The charity previously said that Brody's new owners would need to be experienced with his breed.
Pyrenean mountain dogs were bred to be livestock guardians, used to protect flocks from wolves and bears. They have a thick double coat, which requires regular grooming.
"His new home has lots of breed experience, he has a dog friend, land to roam around and they're the loveliest people," Pickthall added.
"We've had loads of updates and pictures of him enjoying the snow.
"He was a lovely boy, but we're always glad to see the back of them and get that happy ending - it's what you work for from the minute they come in."
