Delays as 77m abnormal load is taken through town

A 77m (252ft) piece of equipment is expected to cause delays on the A14 as it is moved through Suffolk.

The transformer equipment was expected to leave the Port of Ipswich at 08:00 BST.

It was being taken to the East Anglia Three converter station site in Bullen Lane, Bramford.

A police escort was planned to temporarily hold traffic on the A14 between the Copdock and Wherstead junctions.

Scottish Power said the partial closure was anticipated to be enforced between 09:00 and 11:00.

It said the heavy kit would be transported west using the eastbound carriageway of the road.

The delivery was the last of four planned trips from the port to the converter station.
