Man arrested after 'suspicious' death of woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as police investigate the death of a woman.

Suffolk Police were called at 01:10 GMT to Russet Road, Ipswich - a modern housing estate between Woodbridge Road and the cemetery - after concerns for the welfare of a woman.

The woman was found unresponsive and she was declared dead a short time later.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

The force said the death was being treated as an isolated incident and the man and woman were understood to be known to each other.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday.
