Further medical tests will need to be carried out before a murder trial can go ahead, a judge has decided.

Patricia Hewitt, 41, from Stanley, County Durham, was charged with fatally stabbing Angela Lloyd last year.

The 56-year-old was found at her home in Newton Aycliffe on August 13.

Hewitt, who did not enter a plea to the murder charge, was due to go on trial next month but Judge Francis Laird KC, sitting at Teesside Crown Court, agreed to put the date back to 20 July to allow for further medical tests to be carried out.

Hewitt was remanded in custody in the meantime.
