A large amount of cables and cable sleeving has been dumped in a fly-tipping incident.

Durham County Council said its team was investigating a fly-tip which involved rubbish and cables abandoned on a roadside near Long Edge and Charlaw Lane, north-west of Sacriston, last week.

Council wardens said they were also looking into another illegal fly-tip at Memorial Park, South Moor, in Stanley, where large items such as kitchenware and sports equipment were discarded in the park's bushes on Friday.

The Reform UK led-authority urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incidents to come forward.
