Woman, 85, trial set after mobility scooter death
GoogleAn 85-year-old woman will go on trial after she pleaded not guilty to causing the death of a mobility scooter rider by careless driving.
Ann Fletcher, of Hallfield Crescent, Honington, Lincs, denied causing the death of Mark Jackson, 61, after a collision between a car and mobility scooter on Broad Street in Grantham in August 2024.
Ms Fletcher entered a plea after appearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday. A four-day trial will start on 11 May 2026.
The family of Mr Jackson, who had both his legs amputated in 2023, described him as a "loving father" to four children, with a love of travel, botany and birds.
Ms Fletcher attended the hearing on a mobile walker and was granted unconditional bail until her next court appearance.
