Why women may hold the key to tackling climate change
Around the world, women and girls are often more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change than men. This is because they make up the majority of the world's poor, tend to be more dependent on natural resources and can be disadvantaged by cultural norms.
Empowering women and girls is therefore key to tackling climate impacts. But many also think that supporting female leadership and participation is an important way of reducing emissions in the first place.
