US futures slide as tariff fears trigger sell‑off
It was a rough welcome back for Wall Street traders after the long weekend. US stocks opened sharply lower, amid an ongoing sell-off in Europe, on fears of a new transatlantic trade war over Greenland. President Trump is to hold a meeting about Greenland at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, after he threatened European nations with tariffs. The US dollar and treasury bonds are also under pressure but safe haven gold and silver are continuing to hit new record highs.
