Lantern display illuminates canal to mark 225 years
One of Wales' most popular canals has been lit up in a Christmas lantern display to mark its 225th anniversary.
Once an industrial corridor, the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal now attracts about three million visitors every year, with the displays marking its first cargo journey on Christmas Eve 1800.
Hundreds of people took part in a series of lantern parades along the canal in December, with illuminated canoes and kayaks, a sailing swan lantern, and a horse lantern.
The event was described as "magical" by visitors, with children clutching their handmade lanterns and illuminated dog collars leading the way.
