Cleaner hoisted in air by shop shutters remembered

A woman who found herself reluctantly brought into the limelight by a viral video has died.

The 31-second clip of Anne Hughes shows her being hoisted into the air when her coat became attached to shutters as she arrived for her cleaning shift at the Best One store in Tonteg, Rhondda Cynon Taf, in March 2024.

It was originally shared on the shop's TikTok account where it was viewed millions of times.

She said her family and friends all asked her why she grasped onto her shopping trolley in the moment, to which she replied "I really don't know".
