'It's so hard to actually get a job'
A scheme which was created in the 1990s in America to tackle long-term unemployment is being piloted in one of Teesside's most deprived areas.
JobsPlus places caseworkers directly inside communities, giving residents personalised, practical support.
In Stockton, that has meant buying a bike for a 63-year-old man who was spending £15 a day on taxis and offering to help arrange medical appointments for people struggling with their mental health.
The pilot arrives as unemployment in the UK rose to its highest rate in nearly five years at the end of 2025.
