'Art is a very powerful tool' - Golden toilet throne appears in DC
A large marble throne with a golden toilet has been placed on the National Mall in Washington DC as a critique of US President Donald Trump's renovations to the White House. A plaque on each side of the structure reads "A throne fit for a king". The installation is the latest in a series of protest artworks in the DC area targeting the president and his administration.
During his year back in office, the president has commissioned extensive renovations at the White House.
Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, said Trump was "making the White House and our entire Nation’s Capital more beautiful than ever before" and that the president will "fulfill the promises that he was overwhelmingly elected to do".
