Fierce blizzard buries US midwest in more than 2ft (60cm) of snow
A powerful blizzard has brought heavy snow and fierce winds to the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes of the United States. More than 2ft (60 cm) of snow have reportedly fallen in parts of Wisconsin and Michigan since Sunday. At least 129,000 people were without power in Michigan as of Monday afternoon.
Blizzard warnings were in effect across southern Minnesota, Iowa, northwestern Illinois, most of Wisconsin, and parts of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. The weather has cancelled more than 2,600 flights nationwide so far.
