Northern Lights: Aurora Borealis displays shine around Scotland

The Northern Lights have put on an impressive display in the skies above Scotland.

The ethereal light display - also known as Aurora Borealis - was seen in areas including the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire over the weekend.

Eye-catching images of the natural phenomenon were captured by photographers including BBC Weather Watchers.

After a strong geomagnetic storm on the Sun earlier this week, the aurora was spotted for the second night in a row across the UK

The Northern Lights stretched across the island on Monday evening, leaving residents amazed.

The aurora borealis can be seen when solar eruptions send particles towards Earth.
