Police were called after a person believed they saw a firearm in someone's home

Police have seized a large haul of weapons after a member of the public reported seeing a gun in someone's home.

Officers spoke to the tenant and carried out a full search of the Cambridge property on Tuesday.

The weapons, voluntarily handed over by a "very vulnerable man", were logged and disposed of, police said.

"Every knife or weapon we seize is one less that can be used for a criminal purpose," a spokesperson said.

"Therefore, anything that could potentially be used as a weapon was seized after being handed over voluntarily by the individual, who is a very vulnerable man.

"Safeguarding measures have been put in place to support him."
