A man has been charged with murdering a woman who died in a residential street near Norwich.

Officers were called to Catherine Gardens in Thorpe St Andrew at about 23:45 GMT on Saturday, where the woman - named locally as Tania Williams - was pronounced dead.

Armed officers arrested a man on Sunday and Raymond Lee Williams, 61, of Dereham Road, has since been charged with murder.

He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Detectives had been granted an extra 30 hours to question him.

A post-mortem examination concluded Williams, in her 40s, died from blood loss from a wound to the neck.
