Popular city 10km race sells out in 28 minutes
Run NorwichA popular city centre race sold out in a record time of 28 minutes, organisers said.
General entry to Run Norwich opened at 09:00 GMT on Thursday and half of the 8,000 places had been taken within 10 minutes.
The 10km (6.2-mile) event, which will take place on 6 September, is organised by the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation and raises thousands of pounds for charity each year.
A spokesperson described the response from people wanting to take part as "truly overwhelming" and said they would be looking at ways of increasing capacity in future without impacting on runners' enjoyment.
Head of fundraising Emma Fletcher-Dungay said: "We want to create a race that's enjoyable, not one where you are packed in like sardines.
"So, we'd love to increase numbers but we have to look at other ways of doing that."
She told Chris Goreham on BBC Radio Norfolk that supporters cheering on runners were a "driving force" behind the event and would be catered for with activities.
"It really is such a magical day to look forward to, we are just pleased we are able to put on an event like this," she added.
