The competition aims to build on the legacy of Bradford City of Culture 2025

A competition to find the brightest young talent in Bradford has begun.

The 20 Under 25 campaign is a collaboration between Bradford College and BBC Radio Leeds as part of a legacy plan following the 2025 City of Culture.

It will highlight twenty young trailblazers in Bradford aged 16 to 25 who are rising stars in any field and provide them with expert mentoring and support.

Alina Khan, the college's vice principal for equality, diversity and inclusion, said: "It's about celebrating the most inspiring 16 to 25-year-olds from across the district from all walks of life."

"It's about recognising young people who are already making a difference and contributing to society.

"Whether that's through education, or through their own creativity, or through their community work, or even social activism."

A panel of judges will decide the top 20 winners, each of whom will receive a package of mentoring and support from Bradford College and BBC Radio Leeds.

Khan added: "It's a great opportunity and these types of opportunities don't come around very often, especially in Bradford."

Simon Monk, executive editor of BBC Radio Leeds, said the station was "delighted" to partner with the college for the initiative.

"It's a fantastic piece of legacy that can go on year after year, but it's only right that it was born in the year Bradford was the UK City of Culture," he said.

"2025 has been so good, with many, many highlights for the city, the college, and for us at BBC Radio Leeds.

"This is a lovely way to make sure Bradford remains front and centre for the future."

Nominees must live in a BD postcode area and be over 16 and under 25 by the closing date on 10 April.

Nominations can be submitted through the Bradford College competition webpage.

Entries can be submitted by uploading a one minute video or by completing the online form, explaining in fewer than 250 words why the nominee deserves recognition.

Supporting evidence of their work or achievements can also be uploaded.

Nominations can be made by, or on behalf of, talented individuals across any specialism or industry.
