A yellow warning covers the whole of the East of England

Residents in the East of England have been warned to brace for icy conditions on Wednesday following heavy rain brought on by Storm Chandra.

A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office for Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Suffolk.

It is in place from 00:00 until 10:00 GMT.

The Met Office said people should expect disruption and be aware of the risk of injury on icy pavements, untreated roads and cycle paths.

Residents have been advised to allow extra time for journeys and stick to main roads that are more likely to have been gritted, where possible.

Storm Chandra has brought widespread disruption to the UK, with west and northern parts most affected.
